Hearing the truth from God!
Many people struggle to hear from God and may believe there is something wrong with them, or that God does not love them. I have even heard people say that because they are not in church or have a leadership title within the church, God will not talk to them. I am here to tell you that there is nothing wrong with you, why you have not been able to hear from God. God talks to everyone, and it is up to us to take the time to hear from him.
Scripture of a person who wanted to hear Gods’ voice
From the book of Habakkuk 2:1-3 it states, I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry (King James Version, 1998-2022, Habakkuk 2:1-3).
The person in this scripture tells you that they were watching and putting themselves in a place or in a way to watch. The person specifically said, “upon the tower.” This might pertain to a watchtower, where a person or people are watching for incoming boats that may get scratched on sharp rocks within the water to warn them. This may also apply to a watchtower for military purposes to alert enemy enemies or opponents. To set yourself in that watchtower means that you are not allowed to have distractions, because the goal is to look and see what is going on. The person also states that they are looking to see what God is going to say them and then once they have heard a word from God, they will governed themselves accordingly. This means that the person is waiting to hear what God is telling them so that they can do what they have been told to do.
Keys to hear Gods’ Voice
Be Calm: Being calm means calming yourself down and being in a calm mental and physical state.
Be focused: Be focused means to focus on receiving the voice of God. There is no room here for distractions, so I advise you to stay away from anything that is going to take your attention from God
Be Alert: Be alert means keeping attention to God and seeking to hear his voice
Do Journal: You do not want to miss anything that God is saying to you and or showing to you. Sometimes God will provide verbal feedback, visual feedback, or even physical feedback.
Check in with a Christian Advisor, Mentor, Counselor, Pastor etc..: When we have trusted adults to walk with us through this journey, it will take the blow off of not hearing the voice of God right away. A trusted team is even better when you can communicate on a regular basis with different people, so that no one will feel a heavy burden by your questions, comments, and concerns during this journey. Please note that everyone goes through something, even if they do not tell you what is going on. Therefore, several trusted adults must be key.
Remember that God will not force himself upon you, but to speak with you in a loving manner, encouraging you to communicate with him. Remember that the devil uses his lies, which are also words, to throw at you 24/7. The devil also utilizes people around you, social media, trends and more, to make you believe that what he is saying is real and that God is not speaking to you.
Let Us Pray:
Heavenly father God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, I ask you to comfort them and give them instructions and directions on how they should go about these steps. I know that they may be going through tough things right now God and they may not be able to settle themselves enough to hear your voice. I ask you to give them a sense of peace and calm, to quiet down the nervousness, the fears, the anxiety and all the voices and overwhelming emotions that you’re feeling. Lord this person has come to the point where they are pondering in their mind how to hear the voice of God. I ask you to place encouragement on them, so that they may be encouraged to continue through the process even if they don’t get the answers that they want right away. Send forth Lord a team of committed compassionate people, God to help this person in this journey. Allow them to be able to set up regular meeting times, where they are able to communicate with this team. I pray Lord that everyone is in one accord by the leading of the Holy Spirit. If there is anyone that is under the age of 18 Lord that is reading this right now, please help them right away Lord. They need you more now than ever! I pray for their peace, their focus, their understanding, and their will to move forward in this journey.
